InnovationX

InnovationX is an academic competition, operated by the Florida Conference Institute for Leadership and Innovation, that is designed to prepare the next generation of innovators. Students compete for $1,000 in supplies (paid to their school) in one of three academic divisions.

InnovationX has expanded my knowledge in code, creative thinking, and problem solving. I have been able to use the skills I learned during the competition to seek out different and unique approaches to bettering my project.

Eligibility

Any Innovation student attending a Florida Conference school or Innovus’s homeschool program is eligible to compete. Teams shall be composed of one to five students. InnovationX is a requirement for students enrolled in a Florida Conference Innovation Lab School.

Divisions

The goal of this category is to encourage the students to apply the scientific method, then engineering design process for the software development process to conduct original independent research.

· A 5-page report

The goal of this category is for the students to create a social business or product that solves a social or environmental problem. The students will select a social/environmental challenge and research it and launch a social business built around their solution.

· Develop a business idea to address the challenge

· Present at the pitch competitions

· Trifold display board

· Science/Engineering Journal

· Business Model Canvas

The goal of this category is to encourage students to develop a service or invent a product that solves a real problem. It can be something that has not been done before or an improvement or addition to something that already exists but gives it a new purpose. Students will launch a startup around their service or product.

· Business Model Canvas

· A four-minute video pitch or a pitch deck with slides

Judging

InnovationX projects will be judged based on value, innovation, feasibility, and presentation. The InnovationX rubric can be found here.
